Massage therapy programs

We offer the following programs:

Associate in Applied Science in Massage Therapy

This two-year degree provides students with the skills and knowledge for entry-level employment as massage therapists. They learn basic and advanced massage techniques and strengthen communication, analytical and business skills necessary for management of a small business. A full-time student can complete the program in just 18 months.

Graduates are eligible to take various certification exams, including: 

  • The National Certification Exam of Therapeutic Massage (NCETM) provided by National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)
  • Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx) provided by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) the NCETM exam offered by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. 
They may also join a variety of professional organizations. Students may be eligible for our Professional Certification Scholarship to cover the costs of certification exams.

Massage Therapy Diploma

Students may complete this technical diploma program in as few as 12 months. They take many of the same massage therapy courses as associate degree students do, and are eligible to sit for the same exams. Students are prepared for entry-level positions in salons, spas, gyms and corporate wellness departments.

North Dakota licensing

Any student planning to apply for massage licensure in North Dakota is required to take Anatomy and Physiology I and II as well as Exercise Physiology. This applies to both associate degree and diploma students.

Topics in our massage therapy programs

In addition to basic courses in anatomy and kinesiology, students study specific techniques, including the following:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Pregnancy/Special Populations Massage
  • Myofascial Release
  • Hot Stone Massage
  • Deep Tissue/Trigger Point Massage
  • Sports Massage
  • Introduction to Thai/Energy Work

Massage therapists heal through touch. They know how to ask clients the right questions so they can provide the correct treatment. They understand how to match the technique to the needs of the client. They are able to master the rigorous material required of students in our degree and diploma programs.
