Two Medical Administrative Assistant programs
We offer an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree and a technical diploma. Either program will prepare you to assume the duties of an entry-level medical office administrator.
Associate degree
After completing the associate degree program, you will be prepared for an entry-level job as a medical secretary, administrative assistant and office manager in a medical setting. Courses cover topics such as the following:
- Keyboarding
- Medical Terminology
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Health Care Law and Ethics
- Medical Transcription
- Office Procedures
- Business Writing
Students also take related electives and general education courses that strengthen their communication and presentation skills. A full-time student can complete this '2-year' degree in 18 months of full-time study.
Diploma
Students are able to earn technical diplomas in Medical Administrative Assistant in just 12 months of full-time study. They look forward to entering the workforce quickly and earning paychecks as receptionists, clerk-typists, medical admins or word processors. Students in the diploma program receive practical education and hands-on training valued by employers throughout the medical community.

- Transcribing medical records
- Handling written and verbal communications
