Criminal justice careers

In some states, graduates of our program will require additional training before they can serve as law enforcement officers.  Our college can help you identify appropriate training programs in your area.

Associate degree requirements

A student in the Criminal Justice program may be able to complete an associate degree in 18 months of full time study. The program includes general education classes, courses in communications and supervisory management and courses that deal with specialized topics in criminal justice, such as the following:

  • Investigation
  • Security
  • Corrections
  • Behavioral science
  • Legal terminology
  • Legal research
  • Criminal law and procedure
  • Constitutional issues
  • American legal systems

Criminal justice online

Our CJ degree program is fully available through our online division. Students are able to study in the evening, early in the morning or during the lunch hour. They can continue working and caring for their children. Students who live many miles from our campus in the Fargo-Moorhead area can avoid lengthy commutes. And if they prefer, they can take some classes on campus and others online.

Military students—ask a representative about college credit for basic training and other military training.
