College degrees in paralegal
We offer two college programs that train students how to become paralegals:
Bachelor of Science in Paralegal (BS). Students in this “four-year” degree program can finish in three years of full-time study. They take general education classes and basic business courses in addition to studying legal topics such as the following:
- Legal terminology
- Legal research
- Real estate
- Torts
- Criminal law
- Constitutional issues
- American legal systems
- Litigation
- Contracts
- Family law
- Probate
- Bankruptcy
- Legal writing
Students complete legal internships that allow them to integrate their paralegal training and general education. They work in law offices under the direction of attorneys, preparing exhibits, interviewing clients, assisting with pre-trial conferences and researching primary and secondary law.
Associate in Applied Science in Paralegal (AAS). Students are often able to complete this associate degree in 21 months of full-time study. They complete general education courses, basic business classes and take many of legal courses required of BS degree students. A major difference between the BS and AAS paralegal degrees is that an internship is not required in the associate degree program.

Both college paralegal training programs are available through our online division. Students can complete their educations despite demanding jobs, busy schedules and long commutes. They can study whenever and wherever they have Internet access. Our robust online support system means that help is only a click of the mouse or phone call away. Students who thought they had no time for school earn the degrees that will help them achieve their goals.
Post-baccalaureate paralegal certificate. We also offer an online post-baccalaureate certificate in paralegal studies. Students with bachelor's degrees in almost any subject may complete our certificate program in as little as nine months. Graduates are prepared to assist with the delivery of legal services under the supervision of an attorney. Students in our online program enjoy a strong support system that fosters their success as distance learners.
